They probably came across many of the things they can see here in one way or another already. Don't treat your kids like idiots, like they are needed to be shielded away from everything. To sum it up: a very entertaining fantasy show, with some topics that might spark a discussion. There is some drinking but nothing serious. The second episode has the characters sharing a long history and they are treated with respect.
There are two episodes with actresses kissing each other, and I feel really sorry for you if that doesn't fit into your "family values." The first scene is not shot in a sexual way anyway, it's more about power, showing who's in charge. I don't think that the sexual content should be a problem, there are no nude scenes (only some implied), nothing you can't find in most tv shows.
There is some torture and every now and then a bloody fight scene too though. There is a lot of violence but most of the time it's not graphic, and even the more brutal battles are usually done with using very little blood. Her relationship with one of the Mord-Sith is portrayed beautifully in episode 20 of the second season. Sadly, because of the syndicated nature of the show they can't go into all of these things very deeply, but they make a good effort anyway.Ĭara is also presented as a bisexual, and it's treated as a non-issue. There are also times when some situations or characters are forcing you to look at things from different perspectives, to understand why some people act the way they do. But like I said above, there are times when he has to face reality and try to chose the lesser evil.Ĭara starts out serving the evil tyrant but the second season is about her redemption, about her wanting to change. Richard, the main hero is a positive role model, he always tries to do the right thing. With the introduction of Cara in the first season's finale the show matures a bit, forcing the characters to grow as well. In season 1 the line between good and evil is quite clear, though the heroes have to face a few tough decisions. It has some really well written episodes and the actors can give really powerful performances.
